Dear Friends,
June marks the organizational turning point for the HNO Shoebox committee and we are ready and raring to go to meet our target this year of serving 2010 OVCs across six… and possibly seven of Ingwe’s ten wards! As you can see by our progressive stock record, we have made a great deal of headway raising the necessary resources to meet our goal. We would like to thank a number of companies that have played an active role in supporting this program: Mondi Shanduka Newsprint; SAB’s BIS Team; Cash Bases South Africa; SuperClean; SPAR; Russell & Associates; The WinWin Group; Pep Ixopo, IHS Electrical; Exquisite Tastes and Tiber Bonvec Construction. We look forward to growing business involvement in the project and are excited at the prospect of added support from Freedom Stationery this year!
The committee has begun planning the logistics involved in arranging the ‘packing and the parties’ for the end of the year (six parties… and possibly seven) where the orphaned and vulnerable children on our database will be treated to a shoebox gift, a meal, cake and other party goodies. The program will once again involve providing Christmas meals and hampers to Child Headed Households and visiting children’s ward at our local rural hospital on Christmas Eve.
We would like to thank the churches that have faithfully supported the program as well as the scores of other affiliated associations. Breadline Africa, an aid agency based in the Cape has played an invaluable role in upgrading the capacity of The Shoebox Room/Assembly Facility as well as in funding the purchase of a ¾ ton trailer to assist in the logistics of the program.
We would also like to thank Pat Abraham and Monette Brice -who are raising support for the project in Johannesburg- for the incredible work they have been doing and will continue to do in the build-up to the end of the year.
Finally, we would like to thank our individual supporters who sacrifice the most to support the project and for whom we are eternally grateful, there are so so many of you and your faithful support of our vision provides the backbone of our motivation to strive for greater excellence in serving the most vulnerable members of our society!
Attached is our stock record and if any of you, our loyal HNO supporters, feel inclined toward helping us scratch items off our lists we would value your help with this immensely. Be encouraged and creatively energized to assist us this year; it’s so often the seemingly insignificant things that each of us do that ultimately make the greatest impact on our society and the growth of this project is an incredible testimony to this reality!
