Coming Together with Love

December 2018 Newsletter

December 3rd, 2018 | Posted by Conny in HNO

On the 13th of December HNO celebrated the end of year and its many achievements and once again our children put on a sweet nativity play choreographed/directed/produced and filmed by Mary Orpwood.

The annual nativity play

This is the highlight of their year.  Thabani and Lindi were Joseph and Mary, Nondumiso, Nokwanda and Sindi our three angels… And who comes bearing gifts but our two kings Nkosinathi and Nkos’ngiphile (very appropriate as “nkosi” in Zulu means “king”.)

It was a wonderful celebration and lovely fellowship with gifts for the children and party fare donated by our dear friends Brett, Pat, Grant and Robyn.  Thank you to all of you.

Our big strong guys were all there too, except for Gladwin and Xolani.  L to R: Sipho(community worker), Nathi (maintenance), Eric (general manager) Siya (carer) and Mlu (community worker).

Our final food parcel deliveries for 2018 to vulnerable families were also  bumper ones this year thanks to Container Ministries and Grace church who added a bucket of special goodies, and mealie meal to the usual box of basic foodstuffs we distribute every month.  We are feeding 38 families in this way but we also distribute hundreds of dehydrated vegetable soup mixes to many families who live on the fringes of hunger every month and we could not do that without the incredible support from Container Ministries and their donors from overseas who send container loads of this very healthy food supplement on a regular basis.  We always have something to give away thanks to their generous support.

Our feeding scheme is a very special and rewarding part of the work that we do and it is supported by only 7 donors.  Our very special thanks to Pat, Shirley, Don, Lettinga Family, Glen, Creighton Community Church and Small Village Foundation. Also a big thank you to Chris from Ixopo Superspar who continue to give us a generous discount every month and  who certainly are not making a profit out of us.

Our successful feeding scheme

To all our friends and supporters who keep us going and who love and support us, we say a big thank you.

May God richly bless you and keep you  and may this be a blessed season of fellowship and joy and thankfulness especially as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

Lots of love from the HNO team.
